The Hot Rolling Mill was modernized in September 2005. This was the first phase of mofernization and its objective was to achieve the following:

- the full automation of the casting procedure

- the AGC control over the sheet thickness

- the reliability increment of the machine operations

The equipment of the latest generation by the company ABB, Italy was installed. The controls over all engines and drives as well as the main controlling computer were changed. Numerous sensors and indicators (e.g., sheet temperature, etc. trake). were built in. The data base (Level 2) for the rolling parameter preparation and rolled sheets analysis was installed.

All equipment installed together with the supporting software provides the full automation and the stability of rolling parameters, and hence, a uniform quality of hot rolled plates and sheets. Moreover, the mighty data base provides the fine presetting of rolling parameters, the result of which is the high quality of plates/sheets made of all alloys covered with our production programme as well as the comfortable and fast accomodation to new alloys.
